Good Food Award Winners announced - 2013

The Good Food Awards were recently presented. I was curious about the distinction and found, yes – Rum is included! Check out under SPIRITS. Here is some information and winners of the 2013 awards....

"The Good Food Awards celebrate the kind of food we all want to eat: tasty, authentic and responsibly produced. We grant awards to outstanding American food producers and the farmers who provide their ingredients. We host an annual Awards Ceremony and Marketplace at the iconic Ferry Building in San Francisco to honor the Good Food Award recipients who push their industries towards craftsmanship and sustainability while enhancing our agricultural landscape and building strong communities.
In its third year, Good Food Awards will be given to winners in nine categories: beer, charcuterie, cheese, chocolate, coffee, confections, pickles, preserves and spirits. Awards will be given to producers and their food communities from each of five regions of the US. The Good Food Awards seal, found on winning products, assures consumers they have found something exceptionally delicious that also supports sustainability and social good."

2013 Good Food Awards winners announced

Posted on 01/21/2013 at 9:34 am by Paolo Lucchesi in Awards

On Friday night, the 2013 winners for the third annual Good Food Awards were ceremoniously announced at the Ferry Building. As in past years, it’s a long list of winners — see the complete list below  — and there are plenty of local Northern California faces.
The awards honor the country’s best sustainable, artisan producers of beer, charcuterie, cheese, chocolate, coffee, confections, pickles, preserves and spirits. It is also meant to recognize food businesses for environmental and social responsibility. The organization whittled down a list of 1,350 paid applicants to 182 finalists. Then, based on the awards criteria and experts’ blind taste test, winners were chosen and announced at the weekend gala.
